District 17A LCIF Information

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is the humanitarian arm of Lions Clubs International (LCI).  LCIF is a 501c(3) charity whose mission is to support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants.  Through the grants awarded by LCIF, it has become the face of Lionism worldwide. LCIF  stepped up to support relief efforts in response to Covid-19.  By the end of 2021, over 333 grants were awarded totaling of $5.5 million.  Kansas District 17-K received a $10,000 grant to support Lions in western Kansas.  Grants funds have been used to provide Personal Protective Equipment, sanitizer, support for first responders, and a variety of other humanitarian aid. The highest honor LCIF can bestow is the presentation of a Melvin Jones Fellowship.  This honor is obtained by the donation of $1,000 to LCIF.  Donations can be made in lump sum or in installments over an extended period.  Donations may be made easily online at lionsclubs.org or by mailing the funds with a Melvin Jones Fellowship application to LCIF.  Clubs typically make the donations, then determine a Lion or non-Lion to honor when their aggregate donations reach $1,000.  However, an increasing number of individuals are recognizing the amazing service that LCIF provides and are electing to make personal donations.  Your club, District, or MD LCIF Coordinators can assist you with making your donation. Individuals who continue to contribute to LCIF after they become a Melvin Jones Fellow may qualify for one of the 54 higher levels as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
Rick Dodson is our District 17-A State LCIF Chair, and our two Co-Chairpersons are Caroline Arter and Deb Weaverling. Please contact either Lions Rick, Caroline, or Deb if you would like more information about being an individual donor or club donor.  They are also available to provide virtual or in-person briefings to your club about LCIF.
