News from the Kansas Lions Health Program |
October 8-14, 2023 is Sight Week with October 12th being Worldwide Sight Day. Lions Clubs International’s President Patti Hill says “Change the World” one step at a time, and the KS Lions Clubs can take the first step towards “Changing the World” by observing October as Sight Month.
Vision is one of the LCI’s 5 core initiatives. Plan an activity in October where you and your community can honor Sight Month by doing a vision screening, handing out information recognizing White Cane Safety Day, collecting and sorting eyeglasses, purchasing eyeglasses and an exam for someone in your community, or some other vision project. 2.2 Billion+ people globally live with a vision impairment, some of these live in your community. Is your Lions Club looking for them? For more information go to the LCI web site and search vision or contact Lion Vern Failor (vlfailor@gmail.com) for information on the Lions Health Program for Kansas. Any of these projects would fit the Kindness Matters Award your club can earn by doing a worthy project in October. LCI asks you to write a story about your project. Included in this story is a description of the project, the number of people served, the number of hours and the number of volunteers. I would love for District 17 to win this award. Check out the criteria and let me know how I can help your club apply. Lion Vern Failor Kansas Lions Health Program Chair Topeka Sunflower Lions Club |
